running

What you thought I'd talk about something your actually interested in? Nope it's about running again. Everyone I work with think all I'm interested in is running so why try proving them wrong at this point? Even if it isn't true at all I mean look at my friends...Ok done with that ramble and onto running.

Today I decided would be a running day. A certain someone had taken me last week to my running store in Omaha to buy new shoes (I probably would have procrastinated on going if it weren't for the certain someone, thanks :) )Anyway I ended up with shoes that were one size too small, you'd think I could figure out what fits in the store especially after this long of buying running shoes but what can I say I'm special. So today I went back to the store and exchanged my shoes for the bigger size which had been decided last week was too big, but no it's the right size...It's the same size I have in my old shoes why would I get smaller shoes? I really like my running store though they were so nice about exchanging my shoes. It took forever though because they only have one register and pretty sure there was someone buying something the entire time I was in the store.

So anyway running day continued as I found 2 races today in Omaha. One this morning at a lake that I run at kind of often and one tonight downtown at an art gallery place. Of course I picked the night race, I don't get very many chances to run races at night. This was quite an interesting experience. I guess there were about 75 runners/walkers. A lot of the people were there just to support the art projecty thing. Eh whatever. And there were a few serious runners. It was a 5k which is what I used to always run, it's what I was good at. I looked around the starting line and I could tell already there would be really fast people and really slow people. That's normal. We started running though and 3 girls and a bunch of guy go out fast, I run a little behind them and um there's NO ONE by me. For the first mile I could see the fast group and hear no one behind me. After that I was running by myself through the city, keeping my eyes peels for cops..both because they were directing traffic for the race and um we weren't in the best neighborhood. (For the 1 reader from Omaha, we ran by Creighton) It was just crazy to me, I've never been in that position. Sure I wasn't going to be the fastest, I don't train for 5ks anymore and the people in front of me are college runners...(I talked to one of the girls) but seriously usually in a road race there's um guys at my pace at least. Nope they were a couple minutes behind me or ahead of me. So strange. Usually I just follow the people in front of me but this time I had to pay attention to the course. Oh well it was still a good time and I'm glad I did it. I like running in different places and this was definitely the best race tshirt I've ever gotten. They had girl sizes! AND the picture is um artsy, it was for an art gallery place thing.

Oh and since it was at an art gallery I wandered around and saw lots of great paintings, statues, clothes (oh it made me think of Leslie), pottery and other random things. Sebastian you'd love this place, they have a resident art program, my friend's friend is actually a part of it and they seem to do art of whatever medium they feel the need to do.

After the race I decided I wanted ice cream and I was downtown near a really good local ice cream place so I drove over there but I couldn't find a parking space and was too lazy to really search for a spot so I drove home :( gah laziness strikes again!

Ok now the people complaining that I never blog are probably wondering why they encouraged this post....oh well. Maybe I'll write something interesting later
