family

Well I survived my second weekend of family visiting, only have my brother left to visit sometime this summer. My parents were here Wednesday to Saturday. It was an up and down weekend but all in all a good time. They liked the things I got them for Mother's Day and my dad's birthday and they places I took them for dinner were a big hit. Apparently they are impressed how well I know my way around Omaha. Seriously I've been here 7 months, I better know my way around pretty well otherwise life could be pretty boring for me.

Anyway after spending time with my parents and talking to various friends on the subject it got me to thinking how kids turn out the way they do. My rbother sister and I all have our similiarities but wow are we different. To be fair I was raised a decade after my brother and sister so of course I'd end up with a slightly different outlook but my brother and sister are 2 years apart and they value such different things. A friend of mine is pregnant and she's all worried she's going to have some devil baby that she wont be able to handle. You have to hope with good parents the kid will turn out well, but sometimes it just doesnt happen. Parents can't be everywhere and parents can't be perfect. Sometimes kids manage to fall through the cracks. I was talking to a friend today that is blaming himself for his little brother. His little brother is looking at 40 years in Jail for robbery and drugs and he's only 17. My friend doesnt understand how his brother could turn out the way he has after being raised by the same people he was, he thinks if he had been there for his brother more things would be better. But really until recently my friend was there for his brother, driving him around, giving him advice, just being there.

not sure if that made any sense, it's just kinda on my mind
